Bipul Chettri’s “Ghar Salkay ko Katha” is His Second Song for His Pravah Album

A Soul‑Jazz Reawakening of Nepali Musical Heritage

“Ghar Salkay ko Katha” marks the second single from Bipul Chettri’s much‑anticipated album Pravah. In bringing this piece to life, Bipul pays homage to his musical roots: the song was originally composed by Bipul’s father, Late Nirendra Mohan Chettri and written by the Late Shri Laxman Shrimal. For Bipul, this track is deeply personal – the marriage of memory, respect, and creative reinterpretation.

While rooted in Nepali musical tradition, this new version strays from the common folk/rock palette. Instead, Bipul and co‑producer Pranai Gurung have reimagined it in a laid‑back soul / jazz vibe – mellow, introspective, and textured. This style is rare in contemporary Nepali music, yet it echoes the experimental spirit of the 1970s, when such cross‑genre blending was more common.

By layering soft instrumentation, gentle rhythms, and emotive vocal phrasing, they’ve struck a balance: staying true to the soul of the original while giving it a fresh identity.
