Fukrey 3 Review: Laughs and Lapses
The much-awaited return of the mischievous gang of fukreys in “Fukrey 3” brings with it a familiar dose of laughter, albeit not without a few hiccups. As the story unfolds, Choocha (Varun Sharma) inadvertently finds himself pitted against the formidable Bholi Punjaban (Richa Chadha) in an election for the Water Resources Minister. This quirky premise sets the stage for a rollicking comedy that introduces absurdity and hilarity into the political arena.
The film’s first half, with an engaging run and the return of beloved characters, promises an entertaining ride. However, the plot takes an unexpected turn when Choocha and Hunny (Pulkit Samrat) stumble upon the ability to create petrol during their adventures in South Africa. This is where “Fukrey 3” begins to lose its grip, as it delves into an overabundance of toilet humor and sequences that, while occasionally amusing, feel overstretched.
Despite its missteps, the movie does have its share of highlights. Varun Sharma’s impeccable comic timing and Pankaj Tripathi’s standout performance inject moments of genuine humor. The supporting cast, including Pulkit Samrat and Manjot Singh, hold their own, while the quirky music by Tanishk Bagchi and Abhishek Nailwal complements the comical situations effectively.
In the end, “Fukrey 3” may not quite recapture the charm of its predecessors, but it still manages to deliver laughs, making it a worthwhile one-time watch for fans of slapstick comedies. The film’s muddled storyline and an excess of subplots could have been streamlined, but it remains a fun and entertaining addition to the Fukrey franchise.
