Chhewang Lama’s Honest Melody, The Buzz Nepal July 2026 Feature

Chhewang Lama

Singer-songwriter Chhewang Lama is redefining Nepali pop with simplicity, honesty, and a melody-first approach. From mentoring budding talents on The Voice Kids Nepal to performing live with his band, Chhewang & The Creators, he continues to create music that feels grounded, personal, and real.

Where Melody Speaks First

For Chhewang, every song begins with feeling, not words. Guitar or keyboard in hand, he hums and experiments with chord progressions until a melody resonates. Only then do the lyrics follow, shaped around the music.

“Inspiration can hit anywhere, from a stranger on the street to ordinary daily moments,” he says. “Music is my way of observing life and turning real emotions into sound.”

Mentoring the Next Generation

Stepping into The Voice Kids Nepal as a mentor was both exhilarating and challenging. Guiding young talents pushed him to grow as an artist and teacher, while reconnecting him with the raw passion he had as a child.

“It reminded me why I started music in the first place,” he reflects. “Working with kids is inspiring, nostalgic, and deeply rewarding.”

Chhewang & The Creators: A Band with Heart

While he thrives as a solo artist, Chhewang loves performing with his band. Nearly six years ago, Chhewang & The Creators formed with one simple goal: create, perform, and grow together.

“The band is more than stage presence; it’s shared creativity,” he says. “Every rehearsal and live show is about building something meaningful together.”

Songs That Hit Home

Among his songs, three stand out for their personal significance:

“Aama” – a tribute to his mother.

“Tyo Hawaijahaj” – inspired by a loved one.

“Jaat” – written in just 30 minutes after a tragic real-life incident, sending a message about social realities.

Each song captures raw emotion, life experiences, and stories worth telling.

Finding Creativity in Stillness

Creative blocks are part of the journey. Last year, Chhewang paused songwriting for several months to reconnect with himself. Nature walks, quiet reflection, and stepping back from routine helped him rediscover inspiration.

“Peace is essential,” he says. “When the mind is quiet, creativity flows naturally.”
