Hyundai’s Mega Investment in Tamil Nadu: Driving Innovation and Growth

Hyundai, the South Korean automaker, has made a substantial long-term investment commitment in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. Over a span of 10 years, from 2023 to 2032, Hyundai plans to invest a staggering amount of Rs 20,000 crore. The primary focus of this investment is to modernize vehicles and vehicle platforms, reflecting Hyundai’s dedication to technological advancement and sustainable mobility solutions.

The signing of the investment plan took place in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, showcasing the strong partnership between Hyundai and the state government. The plan entails making Tamil Nadu one of Hyundai’s electric hubs in India with the establishment of a vehicle production base and the installation of 100 EV charging stations across the state. This strategic collaboration demonstrates Hyundai’s commitment to promoting electric mobility and building a robust infrastructure to support the transition towards cleaner transportation.

Hyundai’s investment plan also includes significant expansion efforts. The company plans to increase annual battery capacity and boost production volume to an impressive 8,50,000 units per year at its manufacturing facility in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. This expansion aims to meet the growing demand for electric and internal combustion engine vehicles, foster economic growth, and create employment opportunities within the state.
