The Unstoppable Journey of Nepal’s Muay Thai Warrior – Rajina Bista

Rajina Bista is one of Nepal’s most inspiring and trailblazing athletes – a professional Muay Thai fighter, a WBC Muay Thai gold medalist, and a rising content creator who has built her identity through discipline, resilience, and passion. From starting karate at the age of six to training in Japan and later sharpening her craft in Thailand, her journey reflects not just physical strength but unwavering determination. Today, she represents Nepal on international platforms while inspiring young athletes to dream boldly and fight with purpose. Her story is one of grit, culture, and the fearless pursuit of excellence.

Rajina believes the sport has grown significantly in Nepal over the past few years. More gyms are opening, young athletes are joining, and international competitions featuring Nepali fighters are beginning to gain attention. Slowly, the discipline and skill behind Muay Thai are getting the recognition they deserve.

However, there are challenges: Nepal lacks professional facilities, proper equipment, and experienced coaches compared to Thailand. Sponsorships and media coverage are limited, making it hard for fighters to gain financial or public support. Rajina feels Nepal needs stronger infrastructure to build on this growing momentum.

Rajina’s first few years were far from easy. She lived two hours away from her gym and had to take multiple buses every day. Early morning training, long commutes, and little sleep became her routine.

Maintaining a proper diet was also difficult due to irregular meal times and limited access to good nutrition. Equipment and resources were scarce, making her training even more demanding.

Yet, these hardships built her resilience. She learned to manage her time, push through exhaustion, and stay focused on her goals. She credits those struggles for shaping the fighter she has become.

For Rajina, discipline is rooted in purpose. She wakes up early, trains twice a day, and stays consistent with recovery. She practices mental conditioning through meditation, journaling, and visualization. Her belief is simple: mental strength is just as important as physical power. Remembering why she started keeps her going – even on the hardest days.

Rajina advises young fighters to be patient. “Everyone wants to be great fast,” she says, “but greatness takes time.” Her advice is to train hard, stay humble, and respect both the art and the coaches. She also emphasizes not comparing one’s journey to others – instead, focus on personal growth.

Most importantly, she says, “Fight from your heart, believe in yourself, and remember that consistency is the key.” To her, Muay Thai isn’t just about the ring – it’s about representing strength and identity, especially as a member of the Nepali community. It teaches confidence, discipline, and self-protection. “We fight not just for medals,” she adds, “but to stand strong for who we are.”

Outside the ring, Rajina is a YouTuber and content creator. She loves sharing behind-the-scenes moments from her training, travels, and daily life as a fighter. Creating content allows her to connect with people across the world and express herself creatively.

She also finds peace in nature, exploring new places, and taking quiet moments to recharge. For her, these experiences bring balance – a reminder that even fighters need rest and grounding.
