Bipul Chettri is back with new music, and this time, he is turning inward. The acclaimedsinger-songwriterhas released his latest single, “Bhawana,” a track that explores the inner struggles of the mind with the same gentle honesty that has defined his music for over a decade.
A Song About What We Carry Inside
“Bhawana” explores the inner struggles of the mind, touching on feelings of anxiety, loneliness, and self-doubt. The song places emphasis on the importance ofself-compassionand on seeking support when needed. It is a theme that feels especially resonant in a cultural moment when conversations around mental health are slowly but steadily becoming more open, and Chettri’s choice to address it through song feels both timely and deeply personal.

Part of a Bigger Body of Work
The release comes as Chettri continues work on his upcoming full length album “Pravah,” set to roll out across 2025 and 2026. “Bhawana” joins a string of recent singles he has released in the years following his EP, with each new track adding another layer to an artist who has spent over a decade building one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Nepali folk music.
The Artist Behind the Song
Bipul Chettri is a singer-songwriter from Kalimpong, Darjeeling, now based in New Delhi, whose music draws heavily on the folk sounds and storytelling traditions of the Himalayas. His 2014 debut album, Sketches of Darjeeling, drew inspiration from life in the hill towns of Kalimpong and Darjeeling, blending Nepali folk withcontemporarywestern musical elements, and was nominated across multiple categories at the Hero Hits 91.2 FM Awards in Kathmandu in 2016.
Since then, he has released the albums Maya in 2016 and several acclaimed singles including Basant, Gahiro Gahiro, Aashish, Teesta, Mughlan, Neela Akash, Salala, and Bahra Mahina, along with his 2021 EP Samaya. He has toured extensively across the USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, South Korea, India, Hong Kong, the UAE, and Nepal, and is also a voting member of the Recording Academy, the body behind the Grammy Awards, for the 2022 to 2025 term.
A Voice That Continues to Resonate
What has always set Bipul Chettri apart is his ability to turn quiet, reflective songwriting into something universally felt, whether he is singing about love, longing, or the landscapes of home. With “Bhawana,” he turns that same sensitivity toward something more internal, offeringlistenersa song that feels less like a performance and more like a conversation with oneself.
For longtime fans and newcomers alike, “Bhawana” is a reminder of why Chettri’s music has traveled so far beyond the hills that first inspired it.
