Kathmandu, Nepal – February 28 – Maahol, co-sponsored by Glenfiddich and Jose Cuervo Tequila, organized Love: Above and Beyond at Busy Bee, Thamel, to celebrate the complexities, passion, and sweetness of love. The event’s venue partner was Busy Bee Café, Kathmandu, while Ecosoaps and Pilgrims Book House served as gifting partners.

The evening brought together not only poets but also singers, creating a multisensory experience that delved into the many dimensions of love. The event started with soulful singing and soft strumming of guitars from local musicians which provided the perfect backdrop for celebration of love in its platonic, romantic, dark, and tragic forms. 

The poems reflected on sweet beginnings of love, its quiet but unbreakable strength. The theme then slowly shifted and explored the intimate moments, and darker aspects of love. The audience nodded in collective acknowledgment of unspoken bond, memories shared, unrequited love, and love as a whole and in its many forms. One poet apologized to the colors in her poems illustrating that love extends beyond just two people.

As the evening unfolded, the melodious hums of the singers and soulful delivery of the poets created a harmonious environment. The poems left the audience reflecting on the fragile nature of love and its potential for pain. The final performance was delivered by the emcee herself which reminded of love in all its forms- hopeful, unrequited, hard, heartbreaking, or tragic. 

“Love: Above and Beyond” was a deeply immersive experience for poetry lovers which celebrated the complexity and beauty of love through words and music.
