Rahul Shrestha: Music That Moves
Behind the Music – Crafting Soundscapes for Fashion and Performance
Rahul Shrestha is a young versatile Nepali singer, songwriter, music producer, director, DJ, and entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of ASRD Studio Entertainment, a creative platform for music production, filmmaking, and entertainment. Hailing from Dumre and raised in Damauli, Tanahun, he discovered his passion for music early, inspired by his father’s unrealized dream of becoming a singer and influenced by Nepali music legends such as Narayan Gopal, Ram Krishna Dhakal, and Deepak Bajracharya. Self-taught and multifaceted, Shrestha launched his YouTube channel in 2017, initially gaining recognition through cover songs, and has since expanded his work to include original tracks, collaborations, and visually-driven music projects, establishing himself as a rising force in Nepal’s contemporary music and creative industry.
Music can change moods, tell stories, and leave lasting memories. For Rahul Shrestha, this power inspired his journey as a music producer from Nepal.
“I realized I wanted to be the one shaping those sounds and experiences,” he shares.
Music Production for Fashion Shows
Rahul has worked on high-profile projects including En Vogue Season XI (in the making), producing background scores and music that elevate every visual. His process involves studying the visuals, understanding the mood of each scene, and creating a music timeline that enhances the overall performance. “The YouTube series format was unique, and it inspired me to create music that enhances the whole experience,” he explains.

The background scores for Wasim Malik and Mandala Street Runway stand out as highlights in Rahul Shrestha’s work, noted for their unique textures and styles.
“Watching the visuals come alive with the music is truly amazing,” he says.
Advice for Aspiring Music Producers
For aspiring music producers in Nepal, Rahul emphasizes the importance of technical skills, adaptability, and professionalism.
“In fashion shows and live events, situations can change quickly. Staying composed and working collaboratively is key,” he advises.
