KatJazz International Music Festival, in collaboration with the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory, aims to create an immersive environment that harmonizes contemporary music with the rich traditions of Nepal and beyond, through the universal language of Jazz. This year’s festival is scheduled to happen from 18th April to 26th April, 2025. The festival’s original mission is educational and the proceeds have funded 2 scholarships at the conservatory every year since its inception, in 2017.

KatJazz also prioritises artists that are interested in imparting their knowledge and exchanging with students of the conservatory and young local musicians. Workshops are an essential part of the festival, along with a residency involving local folk and classical musicians. Ultimately, KatJazz aspires to be a platform for artists of the growing Nepali jazz scene to reach the rest of the world.

This year, the spotlight has turned to women in music. It is not just a theme but a truth long overdue. The 2025 edition is led by inspiring artists from Nepal and around the world and offers a series of concerts & encounters that celebrate expression, diversity, and exchange — both on stage and off. They bring their voices, hearts, and stories to the music. Each performance becomes a moment of beauty, honesty, and connection. Let this be a space where listening becomes a celebration.

This year, five concerts at KatJazz are led by women who bring boldness, grace, and depth to the stage. From rising voices in Nepal to artists carrying global experience, Taking the Lead honors expression that is as powerful as it is personal. Once We Knew (Switzerland/Nepal): Thursday 24th April, 7.30pm at Moksh, Jhamsikhel
Carole Alston ft. Martin Zenker (USA/Germany): Friday 25th April, 7.30pm at Dhokaima Cafe, Patan Dhoka
