ST-Trio: Nepal’s Instrumental Rock Powerhouse Set to Electrify Australia
Nepal’s musical landscape is gearing up for an international milestone as ST-Trio, an instrumental rock supergroup featuring some of the nation’s most celebrated musicians, embarks on their much-anticipated Australia Tour 2025 this November.
Born from a spontaneous jam session during preparations for the Atomic Bush reunion, ST-Trio has rapidly evolved into one of Nepal’s most compelling musical exports; blending the sophistication of progressive rock with the emotional depth of instrumental storytelling.
The Architects of Sound
ST-Trio unites three extraordinary artists whose collective experience spans decades of shaping the Nepali rock and alternative music scene.
- Sunny Tuladhar, widely recognized as “Sunny ST,” leads the trio with his virtuosic guitar work and craftsmanship as Nepal’s first world-class luthier under ST Custom Guitars. From his early days in Elysium to collaborations with international icons like Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal and Jack Thammarat, his artistry continues to inspire generations.
- Rajan Shrestha, known by his stage name Phatcowlee, brings depth and diversity as a bassist, media producer, and ethnomusicologist. A founding member of Atomic Bush and Jindabaad, Shrestha’s solo electronic projects have earned global recognition with features in Rolling Stone and DJ Mag.
- Alec Sciamma, the French-born, Kathmandu-raised drummer, completes the trio with three decades of rhythmic mastery. A graduate of the Dante Agostini Drum School in Toulouse and co-founder of Atomic Bush, Sciamma’s precision and musical fluency anchor the trio’s complex compositions.
From “Sano Prakash” to Global Recognition
The roots of ST-Trio trace back to their shared legacy in Atomic Bush, the progressive rock band that shook Nepal’s music scene in 2005 with their seminal hit “Sano Prakash.” Now, ST-Trio builds upon that legacy – stripping away vocals to reveal a seamless musical conversation between three virtuosos.
Their sound is a dynamic fusion of progressive metal, jazz fusion, and classic rock energy, evident in tracks like “Electronic,” “Flight of Gryphon,” and “To the Moon.” Each performance blends technical brilliance with emotional resonance; proving that music, even without words, can speak profoundly across borders.

A New Chapter for Nepali Music

Their Australia tour is more than a musical milestone – it’s a statement of Nepal’s evolving artistry and the limitless reach of instrumental rock.
