Sushant Ghimire: Living, Loving & Writing His Heart Out

Rising singer-songwriter Sushant Ghimire has been carving a name for himself in Nepal’s music scene with heartfelt songs like Jun Na Heri and Bujhau Malai. His music feels like pages pulled from a personal diary – raw, honest, and soulful. For Sushant, music isn’t just something he creates; it’s something he lives.

Interestingly, music wasn’t always Sushant’s dream. He admits that he never imagined being where he is today. Everything changed when Mantra Guitar entered his life. What began as casual singing soon transformed into songwriting and composing. The moment he started writing down his emotions, it became more than just a hobby. “It became an addiction – one I never want to quit,” he reflects.

Sushant’s songs often carry an intimate, personal touch, drawing inspiration from both real experiences and his vivid imagination. He describes how many of his songs come from illusions he creates in his mind – entire worlds where he can escape, dream, and feel everything intensely. The process, even for him, is sometimes surprising, as if the songs take on a life of their own.

Like any artist, Sushant has faced his share of struggles in the Nepali music industry. Yet, he chooses not to complain. For him, the biggest challenge has been consistency – holding on to self-belief during difficult times. He sees setbacks as opportunities to work harder, give more love to his craft, and ultimately grow stronger as an artist.

His breakout moment came with Jun Na Heri, a collaboration with Wangden Sherpa. The project not only gave them both exposure but also allowed them to explore new creative directions together. Sushant describes the experience as invaluable, crediting the song for its role in shaping him further as an artist.

Among his growing discography, Bujhau Malai holds a special place in Sushant’s heart. The song, raw and filled with love, was filmed in his hometown of Chatara, by the Koshi River, with the help of ten close friends. For him, the experience was more than just shooting a music video – it was about living the story behind the song.

As for what’s next, Sushant is preparing to release an EP featuring five tracks reimagined with a unique Sushant Ra Rāga twist. He is also experimenting with electronic sounds and planning exciting new collaborations. With passion, creativity, and honesty fueling his music, Sushant continues to prove himself as one of Nepal’s most promising young singer-songwriters.
