Nepathya Is Heading to Auckland After 9 Years and the Nepali Community in New Zealand Cannot Wait

Nine years is a long time. But when Nepathya finally comes back, they make it worth every single year of the wait.

There are bands, and then there isNepathya. For over three decades, Amrit Gurung and his bandmates have been thesoundtrackto Nepali life, whether you grew up in a village in the hills, a flat in Kathmandu, or a city thousands of miles from home. Their music does something that very few artists anywhere in the world can claim: it makes every Nepali, no matter where they are, feel like they are right back where they belong.

On May 10, 2026, thatfeelingis coming to Auckland.

Nepathya is set to perform at the Due Drop Events Centre in Manukau, with gates opening at 6:00 PM. The concert is being organized by Lakhey Events, and for the Nepali community in New Zealand, this is not just another show on the calendar. It is the first time Nepathya has performed in Auckland in nearly nine years, the last show having taken place in July 2017. That gap alone tells you everything about how much this performance means. Nine years of waiting. Nine years of streaming Resham Firiri and Taal Ko Paani and Yo Jindagani through headphones and wishing you could hear them live, in a room full of people who feel exactly the same way.

That is what a Nepathya concert is, especially for Nepalis living abroad. It is not just music. It is a reunion with something deeply personal. Songs like Jomsomai Bazaarma, Udaayo Raille, Chari Maryo Sisai Ko Golile, and Yaani Maya are not just popular tracks. They are memories. They are the voices of grandparents, the smell of rain on mountain soil, the image of a home you left behind. Hearing them live, surrounded by fellow Nepalis in a foreign country, is an experience that is almost impossible to put into words.

Amrit Gurung’s voice has always carried that weight effortlessly. As the founding frontman of the band, he has built a legacy that stretches from village stages in rural Nepal to concert halls across the United States, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, and now New Zealand once again. Nepathya‘s folk-rock fusion was a pioneering sound when they first introduced it, and decades later it remains completely their own. Nobody sounds like Nepathya. Nobody makes Nepalifolk musicfeel as alive and relevant as they do.

Tickets for the Auckland show are priced between $103.98 and $207.50, and if Nepathya‘s track record is anything to go by, they will not last long. Wherever this band has performed, tickets have sold out well in advance. The Nepali community in Auckland is passionate, tight-knit, and has been waiting a long time for this moment.

If you are in New Zealand, or know someone who is, May 10 at Due Drop Events Centre is not an evening to miss. This is Nepathya. They always show up, and they always deliver.
