Nepali Abroad | Nepalese-Origin NYC Actor Om Raj Raut Joins Cast of A Sketch of New York Following International Festival Success, June 2026
New York-based actor Om Raj Raut, of Nepalese origin, joined the rotating lead ensemble of A Sketch of New York at The Producer’s Club in Manhattan from June 19 to 21, 2026, taking on multiple characters across a series of satirical vignettes about life in New York City.
About the Production
Written and directed by Jo DiNozzi and Darien DeMaria, A Sketch of New York was a fast-paced sketch comedy that satirized the absurdities of city life, from subway commutes and art-world pretensions to audition-room chaos and modern dating. The production featured a rotating ensemble in which performers shifted between lead and supporting roles across numerous short sketches, with Raut portraying multiple characters throughout the evening.

Raut on the Experience
The production placed significant demands on its ensemble, requiring rapid character transformations across the course of a single performance. Raut embraced the challenge wholeheartedly. “This show demanded rapid character transformation, and that was exactly the kind of work I loved,” he said. “Each sketch required a different voice, perspective, and energy, and I enjoyed the challenge of moving between characters while staying connected to the audience.”
