A homemade burger can be the perfect treat for a weekend meal, offering a blend of fresh ingredients and unbeatable flavors. Whether you prefer buff, chicken, or paneer, crafting your patties and sauce at home adds a personal touch. Here’s a simple guide to get started.

For the Patties

Ingredients for Buff or Chicken Patties

  • 500g ground buff or minced chicken
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg (optional, for binding)
  • 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs

Ingredients for Paneer Patties

  • 200g grated paneer
  • 1 boiled potato, mashed
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl according to your choice of patty. For buff or chicken, use the egg to bind the mixture. For paneer, the mashed potato works as a binder.
  2. Mix well and shape the mixture into equal-sized patties. Refrigerate them for 20 minutes to firm up.
  3. Heat a skillet with a little oil and cook the patties on medium heat for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Ensure the buff or chicken patties are cooked through.

For the Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon chili sauce or paprika (optional, for spice)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix all the ingredients until smooth. Adjust the seasoning to your taste.

Assembling the Burger

  1. Lightly toast burger buns.
  2. Spread the homemade sauce on both sides of the buns.
  3. Layer lettuce, the patty, a slice of cheese, tomato, and onion. Add extra sauce if desired.
  4. Cover with the top bun and secure with a skewer if needed.
