Dr. Garima Shrestha: Aesthetic Intellect

Garima Shrestha

In Nepal’s growing landscape of modern medicine, Dr. Garima Shrestha has carved a unique space as the country’s youngest board-certified aesthetic physician from the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (AAAM). With a clinical foundation in medicine and specialized training from some of Asia’s most advanced centers, she is not only redefining aesthetic care in Nepal but also leading the conversation around confidence, well-being, and self-respect.

From completing her MBBS at Manipal College of Medical Sciences in Pokhara to working as a Medical Officer at the Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Centre (IOM, TU), Dr. Shrestha’s journey into aesthetic medicine was driven by curiosity, compassion, and a deep interest in facial anatomy and beauty science.

“Aesthetic medicine isn’t just about cosmetic change, she explains. “It’s a branch of modern science that combines precision, anatomy, and an artistic approach. Every procedure – whether it’s injectables, lasers, or boosters – is a medical act and should be treated as such.”

Her dedication to advancing in this field has taken her beyond borders. Dr. Shrestha has attended renowned global conferences such as IMCAS (International Master Course in Aging Science) and the Aesthetic Medicine & Surgery Conference in countries including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, China, South Korea, Japan, and Vietnam. She has also completed externships with top aesthetic doctors in South Korea and Thailand – learning techniques she now brings back to her practice in Kathmandu.

Aesthetic medicine is often mistaken for a luxury or beauty service, but Dr. Shrestha challenges that perception.

“It’s not just about appearance – it’s about helping people feel comfortable and confident in their skin. Whether someone is dealing with acne scars, pigmentation, or early signs of aging, my goal is to provide medically sound and personalized care that uplifts their self-esteem.”

She emphasizes education and honest consultations, ensuring clients understand both the science and the results behind each treatment. Her clinic, VITÀVIE Aesthetic & Anti-Aging Clinic in Naxal, was founded with this philosophy at its core.

Among her most sought-after treatments is a skin rejuvenation protocol that she introduced to Nepal, a combination of exosomes, Salmon DNA, Glutathione, peptides, and hyaluronic acid.

“It’s a cellular-level therapy, designed to hydrate, repair, and brighten the skin from within. Unlike traditional facials that work on the surface, this delivers deep results; improved elasticity, reduced pigmentation, and an overall natural glow.”

This innovation followed her discussions with South Korean doctors and observations at IMCAS, and it reflects her commitment to bringing global advancements home.

In the fast-paced world of aesthetic and anti-aging medicine, staying updated is non-negotiable. Dr. Shrestha travels regularly to attend global summits, engage in hands-on training, and learn about the latest technologies and trends.

“Innovation is constant in this field – and so is the need to learn. I believe every doctor must stay curious and open to growth to offer the best care.”

Beyond her clinic, Dr. Shrestha is the founder of SHE Nepal, an initiative that advocates for women’s health awareness – tackling issues that often go unspoken in Nepali society.

“From menstruation and PCOS to mental health and body image, there’s still a lot of silence around women’s health. With SHE Nepal, we’re trying to shift that narrative –  normalizing conversations and empowering women to prioritize their well-being.”

With the rise of skincare trends and aesthetic procedures, misinformation is common. Dr. Shrestha regularly encounters myths that she actively works to dispel.

“One major myth is that ‘more is better’ in skincare. I always say: less is more.”

“Only the right ingredients work – not more of them. Similarly, Botox and fillers don’t make people look puffy unless they’re overdone. When applied correctly, these treatments enhance subtly and naturally.”

She also notes that treatments related to intimate health are not just cosmetic but can address real medical concerns like dryness or laxity – particularly after childbirth.

For Dr. Shrestha, confidence is something deeper than appearance.

“It’s about knowledge, communication, how you present yourself, and staying rooted in growth. Over time, I’ve realized that confidence isn’t loud – it’s steady. It comes from staying informed, evolving, and helping others feel the same.”

Dr. Shrestha lives by a simple yet powerful principle:

“Discipline over motivation. Anyone can feel motivated now and then, but it’s the discipline to keep showing up that brings real results. And always stay authentic – there’s no substitute for that

With a clinic that blends science, care, and artistry, and an advocacy platform that gives voice to women’s health, Dr. Garima Shrestha continues to pave a new path for aesthetic medicine in Nepal – one that empowers, educates, and enhances, naturally.
