Driving Nepal’s Future with Suryansh Vaidya

Introducing Suryansh Vaidya

Suryansh Vaidya, Director at Vaidya’s Organization of Industries and Trading Houses (VOITH) and CEO of Vaidya Energy, represents a new generation of business leaders in Nepal. After graduating from Bentley University in 2020 with a degree in Business Management and a concentration in Entrepreneurship, he stepped into the business world with clarity and purpose. Raised in Nepal and educated at Rupy’s International School, The British School, and Lincoln School, Vaidya describes himself as a lifelong learner with passions extending beyond business – into sports, people’s experiences, and the intersections of physics and technology.

What Inspired Him to Become an Entrepreneur

Entrepreneurship, for Vaidya, is both legacy and responsibility. “Being born into a business household, I always knew this path was part of my journey,” he shares. “But I’ve never viewed it as inheritance, it’s a duty to create meaningful impact, to give back, and to help shape Nepal’s future.”
At his core, he sees entrepreneurship as problem-solving at scale – building not just companies, but systems, communities, and opportunities that can transform lives.

Bringing Ather to Nepal: The Toughest Challenge

In 2020, Vaidya came across Ather Energy, a trailblazer in electric two-wheeler mobility. Intrigued by their mission, he reached out, initiating conversations that would eventually lead to a historic partnership. “We noticed how EV four-wheelers were entering Nepal, but two-wheelers were overlooked. That gap was our opportunity,” he explains.
Today, Vaidya Energy proudly represents Ather in Nepal, with a shared vision of creating a brand that will last for generations.

The Challenges of Doing Business in Nepal

Nepal, he believes, offers both hurdles and opportunities. Policy inconsistency, lack of trust due to short-term importers, and sluggish systems are among the obstacles. Yet, Vaidya focuses on the positives: “EV two-wheeler adoption was just 3% last year. To some, that’s discouraging; to us, it signals immense room for growth.”
For him, the key is to build trust and long-term consistency, setting his company apart in a market that has often disappointed consumers.

Nepal’s Electric Mobility Industry: 5–10 Years Ahead

Optimistic yet cautious, Vaidya foresees both growth and challenges. He emphasizes the urgent need for charging infrastructure, recycling facilities, skilled workforce training, and stable government policies. He also warns that the rapid EV transition must be managed carefully to balance sustainability with economic realities, ensuring the benefits extend to the entire nation.

The Milestone He’s Most Proud Of

Rather than highlighting a single achievement, Vaidya speaks with pride about building a team of passionate individuals. “The real milestone is the collective journey we’re on together,” he says. To him, success lies not in solitary triumphs but in shared progress, resilience, and purpose.

Future Plans for Vaidya Energy

Looking ahead, Vaidya aims to expand his offerings to make ownership and purchasing more accessible and sustainable, while continuing to strengthen Nepal’s mobility ecosystem. Beyond mobility, he envisions new opportunities that empower Nepal’s youth and inspire them to help shape the nation’s future.

His guiding philosophy: “Let people focus on living fully, while we’ll focus on the mobility that supports them.”

Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

For those eager to start their own ventures, Suryansh’s advice is simple yet profound: JUST START. “Nepal is full of opportunities, but the path is not easy. Learn quickly from mistakes, pivot when necessary, and surround yourself with people who challenge and inspire you,” he says. Hard work, dedication, and discipline, he believes, are non-negotiable.
With characteristic humility, he adds: “I’m still learning too, so if you have something to share with me, let’s grow together.”
