The Rise of a Fashion POWERHOUSE

Sandhya KC has established SALT Fashion as Nepal’s brand of choice
When you think of dynamic personalities in Nepal who’ve successfully bridged creativity, business, and influence, Sandhya KC is a name that instantly comes to mind. Once a familiar face on television, she has now carved out her own path as an entrepreneur, influencer, and the founder of SALT Fashion, a brand that has grown from a passion project into a multi-brand fashion house shaping how Nepal experiences style.
From TV Screens to Fashion Racks
Sandhya’s career started in media, but fashion was always her true calling. She recalls searching endlessly for the pieces she loved – outfits she spotted abroad or online but couldn’t find in Nepal. Instead of waiting for those styles to appear, she decided to create them herself. “That’s how my first baby, SALT, was born,” she says.

Starting Young and Fearless
Unlike most entrepreneurs who wait for the “right time,” Sandhya dived in early, fueled by curiosity and ambition. For her, age was never a barrier; it was an advantage. “Starting early gave me more room to take risks, make mistakes, and learn fast,” she shares. The fast-paced, ever-changing nature of the fashion world matched her own energy, driving her to take bold steps at a young age.
The Story Behind SALT
The name itself carries meaning. SALT stands for Shop All Latest Trends – a vision of modernity, freshness, and innovation. Just as salt is essential in everyday life, Sandhya believes fashion is essential to self-expression. “We drop about 50 new pieces every week, so our customers always find something new,” she explains. But exclusivity is equally important. Collections are kept limited, ensuring every piece feels special and personal to the wearer.

Today, SALT is more than just one brand. With sub-labels like SALT Kids, SALT Active, Aadhya, Wasabi, Lush Pop, and the broader House of SALT, the company now caters to diverse lifestyles and personalities.
Scaling Up: Challenges and Triumphs
Transforming SALT into a multi-brand fashion house has not been without challenges. Building teams, systems, and unique brand identities while maintaining consistency required resilience. Sandhya points to their upcoming expansion into Jeevee Square as another milestone. “We’re working to create seamless customer experiences and manage larger operations without compromising quality,” she says, adding that each hurdle has been a lesson that strengthened the House of SALT.
Defining Success Beyond Numbers
While sales and growth are important, Sandhya emphasizes that success goes deeper. “It’s about how people connect with our brands and how they feel when they wear our pieces.” She measures achievement through customer loyalty, engagement, and the pride people feel in representing SALT. For her, it’s not just about clothes, it’s about building a culture and a community.

Looking Ahead
The journey doesn’t stop in Kathmandu. Sandhya hints at bigger plans on the horizon, with recent expansion to Chitwan and the possible expansion to Pokhara. “Big things are on the way,” she teases, giving fashion enthusiasts across Nepal plenty to look forward to.
A Legacy in the Making
Sandhya’s dream is for SALT to be remembered as the brand that changed how people view Nepali fashion – locally and globally. “I want it to stand alongside the best in the world while inspiring pride and creativity at home,” she says.

Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
For young dreamers eyeing the fashion industry, Sandhya’s message is clear: start with passion and purpose, but don’t wait for the perfect moment. “Take the first step, experiment, and adapt. Stay true to your vision and surround yourself with a dedicated team.” And most importantly? “Have fun with it. Leave an impression. Make sure your brand turns heads wherever it goes!”
