Knockout Glory: “Himalayan Cheetah”, Abiral Ghimire Roars On The World Stage
Nepal’s rising kickboxing sensation Abiral Ghimire, better known as the Himalayan Cheetah, continues to roar on the international combat sports scene. Fighting out of Japan, Ghimire delivered a spectacular third-round knockout against Japanese opponent Riku Yamano at Krush 188 in Tokyo on March 28, 2026, defending his K-1 Cross 188 Championship title for the second time.
This victory not only showcased his trademark aggression and precision striking but also cemented his place as one of Nepal’s most successful athletes in global combat sports.
A Fighter on the Rise
Born in Kathmandu and now based in Nagoya, Japan, Ghimire turned professional in 2017 and quickly made his mark in the highly competitive K-1 circuit. Known for his explosive knockout power, he has built a reputation as a dangerous contender in the super welterweight division.
Career highlights include:
- Winning the K-1 Cross 188 Championship twice, a record achievement for a Nepali fighter
- Multiple knockout victories across the K-1 and Krush promotions
- Successful appearances in Japan’s HEAT kickboxing events
Though he faced setbacks in the K-1 World MAX 2025, where he lost by majority decision to Jonathan Aiulu, his resilience and comeback victories have only strengthened his standing.

Putting Nepal on the Kickboxing Map
Ghimire’s success goes beyond personal triumph. Each fight is a statement for Nepal’s growing presence in global combat sports. Trained and guided by his father, former fighter Dev Kumar Ghimire, Abiral has faced opponents from across Asia, Europe, and South America, proving that Nepali athletes can thrive on elite international platforms.
His journey from Gurjudhara, Kathmandu to Tokyo’s bright arenas reflects a new generation of Nepali fighters breaking barriers and redefining possibilities.
The Buzz Take
From the streets of Kathmandu to championship belts in Japan, Abiral Ghimire is not just winning fights, he’s rewriting the narrative for Nepali athletes in combat sports. With every knockout, the Himalayan Cheetah roars louder on the world stage, and Nepal is watching with pride.
