Gateway College of Professional Studies lifts Trophy of Second Edition of Marcopolo Pizza Making Competition 2023

Marcopolo Restaurant Private Limited recently held the Second Edition of their ‘Marcopolo Pizza Making Competition 2023’. This event was aimed at showcasing the culinary skills of students from five different hospitality colleges and motivating them while promoting the art of pizza making.

The competition took place a month after the first edition and featured five colleges: Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management, NCTTM College, IST College, Gateway College of Professional Studies, and IIMS College. This time, there were three judges: Mr. Shankhar Shrestha, Executive Chef of Marcopolo Restaurant, Mr. Bisho Ram Thapa, Executive Chef of Hotel Royal Singi and Mr. Saroj Baniya.

Each college sent two participants, who had 5 minutes to prepare the dough, 15 minutes to create and bake their pizza recipe, and 10 minutes to present and showcase their pizza to the judges. They were also responsible for cleaning the kitchen after their use. All participants were provided with the necessary ingredients and equipment by the restaurant.

Aside from the competition, there was a coffee stall from the School of Coffee Beans, showcasing the coffee-making process, and live pizza-making demonstrations for the participants by Executive Chef Shankar Shrestha. Certificates were given to all the participants, and token love were presented to the judges and the representative of the School of Coffee Beans.

At the end of the event, the winner was announced with Gateway College of Professional Studies taking the trophy with just a three-point difference from the runner-up, IIMS College. The winner received a Night Stay Royal Camp package at Annapurna Royal Camp in Begnas, Pokhara, along with the trophy and certificates, while the runner-up received a dinner voucher at Mulchowk Restaurant.
