1. Tell us a bit about yourself and your journey in the fashion world.

I am Elina Bhuju, a 26-year-old introverted individual from Bhaktapur, Nepal. I hold a bachelor’s degree in business studies, and my journey in the fashion world began at the age of 10 when I participated in the Bhaktapur Junior Talent Contest. This marked the start of my exciting journey in the modeling industry, with notable achievements like winning the Rifa Fashion Runway in 2018 and securing the runner-up title in the Model Hunt Nepal 2019 competition.

2. What inspired you to pursue a career in modeling?

My inspiration for pursuing a modeling career can be traced back to my confident portrayal as a 10-year-old participant in the Bhaktapur Junior Talent Contest. That moment has remained etched in my heart and continues to motivate me in my professional journey.

3. Can you share a standout experience from your modeling career?

One experience that truly stands out is a recent photoshoot for Swornim Studio, where I had the opportunity to embody a bridal look. The team’s innovative approach and the use of natural settings, like waterfalls and serene lakes, made the process immensely enjoyable. 4. What do you believe sets you apart from other models in the industry?

What sets me apart is my unwavering connection to family-driven principles and traditional values. While I appreciate the glamour of the industry, my commitment to my family brings a unique perspective to my work as a model.

5. Could you share your dream modeling job with us?

My dream modeling job would challenge the boundaries of creativity and allow me to inspire others through innovative and meaningful fashion concepts.

6. What do you find to be the most challenging aspects of being a model?

One of the most challenging aspects is the current market conditions, where some brands seek free collaborations or underpay for the work. Another challenge is the lack of transparency from agencies regarding the exact compensation models they receive.

7. How do you navigate the competitive landscape of the modeling industry while staying true to your values?

I remain resolute in upholding my personal values and aspire to inspire others to embrace their values and contribute positively to the industry, rather than solely focusing on outperforming others.

8. What do you see in the future for the modeling industry in Nepal?

In the foreseeable future, I anticipate modeling will transition into a full-time profession rather than a part-time pursuit. The growing interest and participation in the Nepalese modeling industry are promising signs, and I believe the industry will continue evolving towards greater diversity and inclusion.

9. How do you define success in your modeling career?

For me, success equates to contentment and satisfaction with my personal achievements and how far I’ve progressed in my career.

Models play a pivotal role in promoting body positivity and diversity in fashion by challenging traditional beauty standards and advocating for a broader spectrum of body types, ethnicities, and backgrounds, which empowers individuals to embrace self-confidence and self-acceptance.

11. What’s the most significant misconception about the modeling industry?

The most significant misconception is the notion that it revolves solely around external appearances and lacks depth. In reality, models like myself bring our unique personalities, values, and backgrounds to the industry, which can profoundly influence the world of fashion.

12. What advice would you give to aspiring models?

My advice to aspiring models is to remain authentic to their values and embrace their individuality. Utilize your platform to effect positive change, and never underestimate the importance of family and tradition. Success in modeling should be measured not just by external achievements but by the meaningful impact you have on people’s lives.
