Celebrating Pride Month

In Kathmandu, members of gender equality communities came together for the ‘Nepal Pride Parade’ last Saturday, embarking on a march that commenced at Shanti Batika and concluded at Narayan Chaur.

This event, held annually during Pride Month, holds significance as it pays homage to the historic Stonewall Rebellion of the 1960s, which catalyzed the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement. Globally recognized in June, Pride Month serves as a platform for diverse groups within the gender and sexual minority community to celebrate their identities and advocate for equality and acceptance.

Participants in the Nepal Pride Parade marched joyously, adorned in vibrant colors and waving flags that symbolize unity and solidarity. The event not only showcases the resilience and visibility of Nepal’s LGBTQ+ community but also fosters a spirit of inclusivity and empowerment within society.
