Children’s Art Exhibition at Kathmandu Eco Hotel

On Saturday afternoon, 11th March, a six-day long art exhibition was inaugurated by the Society for Street Children at the Kathmandu Eco Hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu. The main theme of the exhibition is “The Expression of Child Heart”, which showcases the charity paintings and sketches created by the young talented teenagers who are supported by “Foreningen for Gatubarn I Nepal” for their education and livelihood. The event was inaugurated by Bhabiswor Sharma, Chairman of the Thamel Tourism Development Council, who shared the richness of Nepalese art and culture and its global support.

Society for Street Children which has been extremely participating to help street children since 2010 in Nepal hosted this exhibition to explore the latent talent of children in arts. According to Society Chairperson Eva Holmberg Tedert, the organization has saved over 400 street children and other children in other sectors over the last 13 years and is now helping 55 children directly. They are also running an earthquake-damaged school restoration program as well as a support program for beekeeping, goat-rearing, and gender-based violence elimination program.

This exhibition provides a chance to display the abilities of young teens while also raising awareness about the issues faced by Nepal’s street children. There were 30 paintings displayed that were painted by the seven students and were also for sale to support the teenagers who painted them and will be contributed to the joint fund at the orphanages for social activities.
