Female Filmmakers Take Center Stage in NIFF’s “Kurakani Series #2: Her Cinema, Her Voice”
The Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF) is continuing its pre-event conversations with the second session of its Kurakani Series, titled “Her Cinema, Her Voice,” set to take place on February 26, 2026. The event will be held from 3 PM to 4 PM at the Kantipur Film Academy in Gairidhara, offering free entry to all film enthusiasts and aspiring creators.
This special session will spotlight the voices and journeys of women filmmakers, bringing together a dynamic panel that includes Sangita Shrestha, Usha Rajak, and Samundra Bhatta. These filmmakers will share their personal experiences navigating Nepal’s evolving film landscape, reflecting on both the challenges and triumphs of working in an industry that has traditionally been male-dominated.
Moderated by Sandhya Thapa, the conversation aims to create a meaningful space for dialogue, inspiration, and connection. The panel will explore creative journeys, industry realities, and the importance of representation, while also offering guidance and encouragement to emerging filmmakers and storytellers.
The Kurakani Series is part of NIFF’s broader effort to foster open conversations around cinema, festivals, and the creative process. Designed as an interactive platform, the series encourages knowledge-sharing and community engagement ahead of the festival, helping bridge the gap between established professionals and the next generation of filmmakers.
With “Her Cinema, Her Voice,” NIFF continues to amplify diverse perspectives and celebrate the growing influence of women in Nepal’s film industry, marking another step toward a more inclusive and vibrant cinematic future.
