Anyang Receives Acclaim from Media and Think Tank Guests
From July 23 to 27, Henan Province welcomed international delegates for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Media and Think Tank Summit. During their visit, guests explored Anyang, one of China’s Eight Ancient Capitals, gaining insight into its cultural legacy and development.
Delegates visited Yinxu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to the Oracle Bone Inscriptions and the origin of the Book of Changes (I Ching). At the Yinxu Museum, which echoes the form of a monumental bronze Ding, guests viewed the ancient script etched into tortoise’s bones and shells.
“China’s enduring civilization is a cornerstone of its global standing,” said Robinder Nath Sachdev, President of India’s Imagindia Institute. “This visit has aroused a curiosity and I’ll delve further into Anyang’s history and culture upon my return.”
At Linzhou’s Red Flag Canal Museum, guests reflected on the historic feat of carving a 1,500-kilometer canal through mountains to solve chronic drought. Olga Migunova of St. Petersburg State University of Economics described Anyang as “the cradle of Chinese civilization,” noting the canal reflects China’s spirit of unity and resilience: “Similarly, if SCO countries stand together, we too can surmount countless challenges.”
Aman Mambetaliyev, Deputy Director from Kazakhstan’s Central Communications Service echoed this, saying, “The Red Flag Canal spirit offers inspiration to other countries Coming from Kazakhstan where water scarcity and global warming challenge us, we might adopt this approach. The Canal demonstrates that shared conviction and purpose can achieve the impossible.”
Delegates also toured Henan Guangyuan New Material Co., Ltd., observing automated production lines. “The hum of precision machines and the rhythm of assembly lines foster a social bond, igniting collective pride in ‘Made in China’,” noted Nikolay Migunov, Chief Editor of Daotong Eastern Literature Press.
Through history, innovation, and shared dialogue, the summit in Anyang strengthened cultural understanding and deepened SCO cooperation.
