Nepal Art Council Hosts Stunning Exhibition by Kishor Kayastha

The Nepal Art Council recently hosted an incredible art exhibition by Kishor Kayastha, one of Nepal’s most celebrated photographers. The exhibition featured 30 panoramic photographs of Mustang, drawing a huge number of visitors and leaving a lasting impression on everyone who attended.

Kayastha’s large-scale panoramic prints—some of the longest ever displayed in Nepal—captured the beauty and mystery of Mustang in a way never seen before. The size and detail of the photographs encouraged viewers to pause and take in every element, creating an immersive experience. The Nepal Art Council was the only venue able to showcase photographs of this scale, making the exhibition truly one of a kind.

Reflecting on his work, Kayastha shared, “I believe I’m just a medium. The location called me, and I simply answered. Mustang revealed itself through my lens.” His words resonated with visitors, highlighting the deep connection his work has to the landscapes and stories he captures.

Kayastha’s journey as a photographer spans over two decades. From his early days using a box camera borrowed from his parents’ photo studio in Bhaktapur to becoming a leading figure in Nepal’s photography scene, he has continuously pushed boundaries and inspired others.

This exhibition not only celebrated Mustang’s rich history and landscapes but also invited viewers to reflect on time, culture, and perspective. Kayastha’s work transforms ordinary scenes into something extraordinary, reminding us of the beauty around us.

The success of this exhibition also shows how photography is gaining recognition as a powerful art form in Nepal. Kayastha’s dedication continues to inspire new photographers, ensuring the art form keeps growing while staying rooted in tradition.
