Skin care tips for active girls
Working out enhances our cardiovascular health, tones muscles and helps elevate our overall mood. The post-workout endorphin surge is incomparable. Good health means clearer skin- that’s a given. But, not having a disciplined skin care regime pre-, during and post workout sessions can wreak havoc to your skin; breakouts, clogged pores and skin infections are some of it. Here are some must-dos to achieve that glowing skin:
Cleanse
The accumulated dirt, oil, impurities or any makeup product is likely to clog our skin pores, and cause skin irritation and breakouts. Cleanse your skin thoroughly before you work out. As tempting as it is, never jump in a workout session with your makeup on. Likewise, do not keep sweat on your body and face for a long time. Experts recommend a double cleanse post workout. Apply oil cleanser first and then use a salicylic acid-based face wash.
Slather on tons of sunscreen and moisturizer
Even in the cold, wearing sunscreen is essential if you’re exercising outside. Use SPF 30, at least. Also, the anti-inflammatory and cooling components present in your moisturizer can aid in soothing the redness and itchiness. Don’t forget to apply a lip balm to avoid chapped lips.
Put on a headband
The natural oils and products in your hair can get mixed up with your sweat during workout, and cause breakouts in your forehead area. Use a nice headband to stop it.
Stay hydrated
Water intake during workout is a necessity, not only to prevent being lightheaded but also to ensure that your skin doesn’t become dull as a result of post-workout dehydration. Carry your water bottle, always!
Use a towel
You might use a lot of equipment, yoga mats and dumbbells for workouts. These are utilized by many people all day long forming a pool of bacteria on it. It is necessary to put over a towel on your equipment or wipe those bacteria off the machines before using it. It is recommended to use another soft towel to wipe off excess sweat from your skin. Make sure the towel is washed on a regular basis.
Don’t ignore your body
Our body tends to release a lot of sweat and toxins post workout, which is further absorbed by the clothes. This can cause acne in the body. So, a quick change of clothes or a shower is a must after a session.
Invest in good active wears
Wearing a loose fitting top will less likely cling to the skin and irritate your pores. Likewise, well-fitting apparel may lessen the friction that can cause skin breakouts. Also, search for good quality fabrics that are breathable and sweat-wicking while selecting your active wears. You will be able to control your body temperature better and avoid excessive sweating.
