In this interview, the Bosah team shares their design journey, creative process, and aspirations for the future.
How did your studio come into existence, and what inspired its founding?
Our studio came to life in 2019. It was founded by three young, determined women driven by a shared passion to transform others’ visions into reality, each with a distinctive touch. We set out to be recognized for our skills, dedication, and unwavering effort, and from that vision and thus Bosah was born.
Could you walk us through your design process, from initial concept to final execution?
Our design process begins with a detailed questionnaire to understand our clients’ vision. Based on their responses, we create mood boards that help capture their aesthetic and functional preferences. This is followed by 2D planning, where all layouts are finalized, and then brought to life through 3D design and high-quality renders. Every step is executed with precision and care, ensuring that the final design aligns perfectly with the client’s expectations, minimizing the need for revisions.
How do you balance aesthetics with functionality in your work?
We see design as the harmony between form and function. A space should not only captivate visually but also support the rhythms of daily life. We achieve this balance by deeply engaging with our clients to understand how they live, work, and feel in a space. Every aesthetic decision is backed by a functional purpose from spatial planning to material selection, ensuring that beauty never compromises usability. The result is a seamless blend of elegance and efficiency, where every detail enhances both experience and expression.
Are there specific cultural, historical or natural elements in Nepal that influence your designs?
As a Nepal-based design firm, we draw deep inspiration from the country’s rich cultural heritage, historic architecture, and natural beauty. Traditional elements like wood carvings, mandala patterns and earthy textures often shape our design language. By blending these with modern aesthetics, we create spaces that feel both rooted and refined. Collaborating with local artisans and vendors, we ensure authenticity while supporting our community and honoring Nepal’s legacy through timeless, innovative design.
Bosah comprises a team of passionate young professionals, how does this dynamic influence your creative process and project outcomes?
At Bosah, our team of passionate young professionals bring fresh energy and bold creativity to every project. Our collaborative spirit and openness to new ideas drive innovative, boundary-pushing designs that reflect modern lifestyles. This dynamic approach ensures each space feels original, vibrant and thoughtfully tailored to our clients.
Can you share an instance where team collaboration led to a particularly innovative solution?
In one project, we addressed the need for a larger puja space by adding a sliding pocket door between the puja room and living area, allowing the space to expand during special occasions without affecting daily use.
At Sicily restaurant in Thamel, we collaborated with local vendor Kolpa to customize a pendant light design, resulting in a bespoke lighting feature that perfectly matched the overall design vision.
Where do you see Bosah in the next five years?
In the next five years, we envision Bosah becoming a leading name in interior design in Nepal and beyond. We aim to take on diverse, large-scale projects, push creative boundaries while staying true to our roots. Our vision is to be a hub of innovation where timeless design meets modern sensibility by creating spaces that are both beautiful and deeply meaningful.
Looking ahead, what are your aspirations for Bosah Studio in the next five to ten years? Are there any specific projects or milestones you aim to achieve?
Looking ahead, Bosah Studio hopes to grow into a full-service design house, expanding from interiors to architecture, furniture, and lifestyle design. We want to take on exciting residential and commercial projects that inspire us and make a lasting difference. Our goals include opening a signature showroom, working on international projects, and promoting sustainable, locally inspired design. Above all, we aim to create spaces that tell stories, inspire feelings, and improve everyday life.
What has been the most rewarding aspect of your journey with Bosah Studio so far?
The most rewarding part of our journey at Bosah Studio has been bringing our clients’ visions to life by crafting beautiful, personalized spaces that reflect their lifestyles. Each of the projects tells a unique story and being part of that creative process is deeply fulfilling. As a team of passionate young professionals, we’ve grown through challenges, pushed creative boundaries and celebrated every milestone while staying committed to design excellence and meaningful client relationships.
