Mukesh Shrestha’s “Bhairav Bhav” at Gallery 108

Gallery 108 presents Mukesh Shrestha’s “Bhairav Bhav”, a contemplative exploration of Shiva and his fierce form, Bhairav, from 19 December 2025 to 31 January 2026. Open 11 AM – 7 PM (Mondays by appointment), the exhibition fuses traditional Nepali iconography with a contemporary visual language.

A Gold Medal MFA graduate from Banaras Hindu University (2008), Shrestha has significantly contributed to Nepal’s contemporary art landscape. From teaching at Tribhuvan University to leading the Painting Department at Sirjana College of Fine Arts, his work has earned national and international recognition, including the National Fine Art Award (2012), Pattern Breakers Award, Denmark (2016), and the merit Award from Italy (2019). Known for his molten, distorted human forms, Shrestha bridges traditional Nepali iconography with modern artistic sensibilities, exploring emotion, fragility, and the ephemeral nature of life.

Shrestha focuses on the eight Bhairavs, guardians of space, time, and transformation, blending Bhairav’s intensity with Shiva’s calm. Flowing forms, precise linework, and a palette of yellow ocher, white, and black create rhythm and spiritual depth, inviting viewers to reflect on balance, chaos, and stillness.

Rudra Raksha beads and black-draped interiors enhance the meditative experience, while Shrestha’s signature molten forms convey emotion, fragility, and transience.
