Sarita Dangaura: An Inspirational Fashion Designer
In Nepal, where fashion design is often confused with tailoring, Sarita Dangaura stands tall, redefining design as a language of power, purpose, and personality. As the founder and creative force behind the label D.Sryta, she’s more than just a designer. She’s a storyteller who weaves identity and confidence into every piece. Her work is not only about fabric and silhouettes, it’s about standing up for creative identity in a space that often underestimates it.
“Every piece I craft, is a statement of confidence and power empowering its wearer to own every moment.” She says.
Rooted in Heritage, Styled for the Future
Born in Kailali in Nepal’s far-western region, Sarita grew up surrounded by the warmth of her Tharu roots. Her father ran a fabric shop, and every piece of clothing she wore was stitched at home from materials he curated. While other children followed local trends, Sarita customized her outfits based on the glamorous looks of film stars and TV personalities. Even as a child, she refused to blend in setting the tone for the fearless creativity she’d later become known for.
A Winding Road to Fashion and Breaking Free
Sarita pursued science, believing a creative career wouldn’t be accepted in her traditional family. But the pull toward fashion never faded. Eventually, with encouragement from a family friend and persistent self-belief, she moved to Kathmandu and pursue her dream at Namuna College of Fashion Design. That leap of faith marked the beginning of her journey in the world of fashion.
During her graduation fashion show, she presented an outfit inspired by her Tharu heritage, which was later featured in a Tharu music video, gaining admiration from both youth and elders. That moment where her modern aesthetic met her cultural roots, it solidified her belief in design as a bridge between identity and innovation.

Sarita’s professional break came at Manish Rai Fashion Studio, where she began as an intern and quickly became an assistant designer. Though the experience honed her skills, she longed to build her own vision. After 2.5 years, she took a bold step and launched D.Sryta, a label that embodies strength, elegance, and bold individuality.
“Fashion is more than glamour, it is both an art and a serious business,” she asserts.
Creating with Heart, Not Hype
Sarita keeps her creative process rooted in authenticity. She tracks global fashion weeks, listens to client needs, and researches trends, but never lets them overshadow her original voice. Every D.Sryta design is a product of her lived experiences, stitched with culture, courage, and quiet rebellion against the ordinary.
“Trends should inspire, not define,” she shares.
Words to the Dreamers

“Stay true to your own voice. Fashion is about passion, patience, and perseverance.”
She encourages exploration, fearless creativity, and embracing setbacks as part of the journey. When it comes to personal styling, Sarita emphasizes understanding your body, dressing with confidence, and avoiding blind trend-following. “Bold never means vulgar,” she clarifies. “It’s about how you present yourself.” For her, true style is about embracing what makes you unique and wearing it unapologetically.
