Meet Dr. Saru Maharjan: The Heart Behind the Healing
One of the most inspiring parts of my visit was meeting Dr. Saru Maharjan, an internationally known Ayurveda Consultant and the guiding force at Kaya Ayurveda. Dr. Saru is intensely trained in traditional Ayurvedic medicine and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Yoga Science. She has also received specialized training in Ksharsutra therapy for treating anorectal disorders, showcasing her broad clinical expertise.

What truly sets her apart is her compassionate approach. With over a decade of experience, she blends intuitive listening, precise dosha evaluation and soul-healing counseling into her consultations. Each client receives a thoughtfully designed, individualized wellness program that reflects not only physical needs but also emotional and spiritual balance.
Beyond Ayurveda, Dr. Saru is also a certified sound healer, known for her unique integration of singing bowls with Ayurvedic chakra healing, a powerful combination that enhances emotional and energetic healing.
She’s also a seasoned practitioner and teacher of Panchakarma, yoga and meditation and has led numerous wellness classes for international audiences. For those unable to visit in person, she also offers online Ayurveda consultations and virtual classes, making her healing wisdom accessible worldwide.
My Personalized Wellness Journey
My experience began with an in-depth consultation with Dr. Saru. She listened carefully as I described my health history and daily routine. Through her evaluation, she discovered that my body was holding onto excess energy and that my metabolism was sluggish affecting my thyroid health as well. She prescribed Ayurvedic medicine to support my metabolism and thyroid function and guided me through a few daily exercises to promote long-term well-being. The level of personal attention and insight was truly impressive.
Immersive Ayurvedic Therapies
After the consultation, I experienced a combination of traditional therapies that left me feeling renewed:
Head Kayabhyanga
A calming head massage using warm herbal oils that helped me relax, clear my mind, and release built-up stress.
Deep Kayabhyanga
This full-body Abhyanga treatment was designed to deeply cleanse the body’s tissues and internal systems. It was invigorating, grounding, and revitalizing.
Shirodhara
Warm oil was gently streamed over my forehead, easing me into a deeply meditative state. I fell asleep during the session and woke up feeling lighter, clear-headed, and incredibly refreshed.

Why Kaya Ayurveda Is So Special
From short 90-minute therapies to 28-day classical Panchakarma programs, Kaya Ayurveda has something for everyone. Whether you’re healing from chronic illness or simply seeking to reconnect with yourself, this center offers authentic, compassionate care.
