Circles of Connection: Rediscovering Bhaktapur’s Sustainable Soul Through Khwopa Walk
What if the principles of sustainability we champion today were already embedded in our cities centuries ago?
This thought-provoking question, raised by Miss Nepal World 2023 Srichchha Pradhan through her Pancha Pranali initiative, has inspired a distinctive cultural experience: “Circles of Connection: A Walk Through Khwopa.”
Set against the timeless backdrop of Bhaktapur, the immersive heritage walk aims to uncover how the ancient city sustained itself by harmonizing the five natural elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space within its urban design, daily life, and cultural practices.

Curated in collaboration with a native tourism initiative: 365 Days Exploring Bhaktapur, the experience goes beyond a conventional tour. Participants will engage with Bhaktapur’s layered histories, indigenous knowledge systems, and ecological philosophies that have quietly shaped its resilience over centuries with Rushel Shilpakar.
From traditional water management systems and temple architecture to community rituals and spatial planning, the walk presents Bhaktapur not just as a heritage site, but as a living model of sustainable urbanism.
Scheduled for April 4, 2026 (7:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.), the event offers a rare opportunity to explore the city through a lens that connects past wisdom with present-day environmental discourse.
With limited seats available, early registration is encouraged for those seeking a deeper, more meaningful engagement with Nepal’s cultural and ecological heritage.
