Aruna Gurung: Bringing Global Skincare Excellence Back to Nepal for Over 15 Transformative Years
For Aruna Gurung, skincare is more than a profession, it is a journey that connects global expertise with local care. Originally from Pokhara, Aruna moved to Hong Kong after completing high school, where she pursued her education and earned her license as a Cosmetic Laser Specialist. Over the next 15 years, she worked in a professional beauty clinic, gaining extensive hands-on experience while learning international standards and advanced skincare techniques.
Although she built a successful career abroad, Ms. Aruna Gurung always felt a strong desire to return to Nepal and contribute to the beauty and wellness industry in her home country. Today, she runs Dear Skin Beauty Clinic along with her sister company, Lashxtend SPMU Studio, located in Nagdhunga, Pokhara. Through these ventures, she brings global-level skincare treatments and professional expertise to local clients, helping them achieve healthier and more confident skin.

Simple Skincare Tips for Beginners
For those just beginning their skincare journey, Ms. Aruna Gurung emphasizes the importance of building a simple and consistent routine.
Cleanse your face twice a day. Washing your face in the morning and evening helps remove dirt, oil, and environmental pollutants. At night, she recommends double cleansing, starting with an oil-based cleanser to dissolve sunscreen and impurities, followed by a gentle cleanser to deeply clean the skin.
Always moisturize. Moisturizing helps maintain the skin’s natural barrier and keeps it hydrated. Even people with oily skin should not skip this step, as dehydration can cause the skin to produce even more oil.
Never skip sunscreen. Sunscreen is the most important step in preventing sun damage, premature aging, and dark spots. Aruna advises using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every morning.
Keep your routine simple and consistent. Beginners often feel tempted to try multiple products at once, but consistency matters more than quantity. Starting with a basic routine and maintaining it daily can deliver the best results over time.
Introduce new products slowly. When adding new skincare products, introduce them one at a time and wait about a week before adding another. This helps identify potential reactions and allows the skin to adjust properly.

“Building a simple and consistent routine is key.”

Protecting Your Skin in Nepal’s Climate
Nepal’s dusty and often polluted environment can be challenging for skin health. Aruna recommends creating a skincare routine specifically designed to protect and repair the skin from environmental stressors.
Morning Routine: The Shield
- Cleanser: Use a gentle face wash that cleans without stripping your skin.
- Antioxidant Serum: Apply Vitamin C or Niacinamide to help neutralize damage from pollution.
- Moisturizer: Hydrate your skin and create a protective barrier.
- Sunscreen: Use SPF 50+ every morning. It blocks harmful UV rays and prevents dust and pollutants from settling on bare skin.
Evening Routine: The Deep Clean
- Double Cleanse:
– Oil Cleanser: Removes sunscreen, makeup, and pollution trapped in your pores.
– Gentle Cleanser: Washes away remaining dirt, sweat, and debris. - Repair Cream: Apply a moisturizer suited to your skin type to restore hydration and support overnight repair.
Following this simple yet effective daily routine, combined with professional facials tailored to your skin’s current needs, gives your skin the best chance to stay healthy, clear, and resilient in Nepal’s challenging environment.
